Day 1 is in the books and Team USA had their share of problems. A major blow to the Trophy Team was the loss of Ricky Dietrich, who had to pull out of the race due to mechanical problems. The US Trophy Team still hung in there and wound up in 5th. The Junior Trophy Team had a great day with a 2nd place finish, just over 1 second behind France.
